RPD system should have a configurable variable available to a workflow to assign paper stock to for banner page printing. This variable setting should then be written to the JDF file used by the assigned printer.
This solution allows for multiple paper types to be used by a print job but keep banner pages separate from the stock used by the job in case the job never uses the banner stock.
This solution is also not printer specific and utilizing a specific tray on the printer which ties the print team to only a single tray to use for banners. If the tray fails for any reason, print team needs to reconfigure the tray in RPD but this could lead to an on-call event as operators don’t have this control typically.
